Vladimir Korolenko's house museum is not located in Gelendzhik itself, but 20 km from the center of the resort . This museum is located in the manor on the Dzhanhot farm, which was built at the beginning of the 20th century mansion - was a small holiday village . The history of the house in which the famous Russian writer Vladimir Galaktionovich Korolenko spent many warm summer days, a guest at his own brother Hilarion, is very interesting . However, time spared the mansion. Built in the first years of the 20th century by the design of Vladimir Korolenko himself and under the direct supervision of his brother Hilarion, the house was perfectly preserved both inside and outside. All the stone buildings have survived to our days unchanged, but the wooden elements of the estate have undergone restoration. Today, the house museum can be seen from afar - its carved snow-white verandas, reminiscent of the lace of the seamstress, stand out vividly against the green foliage of the slopes of the Dzhanhot Gorge.

Today the estate of the Korolenko family is not only a historical monument, but also an architectural monument. It was built under the direct leadership of Hilarion Korolenko, and designed by Vladimir. Who owned the idea of ​​building a dacha exactly in Dzhanhote - for certain is not known. However, the facts claim that Illarion was ill with tuberculosis and spent a lot of time here, and after the construction was completed he was left to live in this amazing place, sprinkled with the healing air of the Pitsunda pines.

Later, when the mansion was built, Vladimir came here every summer with his family. In 1915, Illarion Korolenko died, and Vladimir, who lived until 1921, never returned to Dzhanhot. A colony was built in the house for homeless children, later several families of farmers lived here, and even later, recreation centers and children's camps were set up. The estate was a success in terms of occupancy, but no effort was made to maintain it in its original state.

However, it was not immediately possible to implement the conceived, but only in the 50's. last century. One of the most important initiators of its foundation was the Gelendzhik Museum of Local History, which includes the museum-estate today. Already in 1953 a memorial corner of Korolenko was created in the wing, where he lived during the summer holidays. And the date of foundation of the museum is 1964, when it was officially made.

The restoration of the building took place from 1982 to 1991, but then it stopped, and the completed estate was acquired only in 2003 Today, the house-museum of Vladimir Korolenko hospitably welcomes tourists and vacationers. The exposition of the museum acquaints visitors with the life and work of the writer, and also gives an opportunity to enjoy the unique atmosphere of an old country house of the early 20th century.
