The era when the insurance companies themselves determine the conditions for covering the expenses of the affected tourists is coming to an end: the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation has prepared a number of amendments to the current legislation that will determine the minimum set of requirements for travelers' insurance . According to preliminary information, the legislative initiative will cover the conditions of granting of medical assistance to victims and the minimum amount of insurance coverage that should not fall below the level of 1 million rubles .
Note that today domestic insurance companies draw up medical policies for tourists in accordance with the rules established by the diplomatic services of foreign countries. In particular, for a tourist trip to any EU country, the minimum amount of insurance compensation is 30 thousand EUR (1 310 000 rubles). On the other hand, future amendments will allow to adjust the mechanism for providing monetary compensation, which until now largely varies depending on the specific insurer.
