From January 1, 2013 tourists from Russia traveling through Beijing will be able to stay in the capital of China 72 hours without a visa, RIA Novosti reported.
A transit visa, which can be obtained upon arrival at the international airport of Shoudu, will allow foreign tourists to stay in Beijing for three days. This privilege will be granted to citizens of 45 countries, including the United States, Britain, France, Canada and Russia. The innovation will only affect those who arrive in the capital of China by plane.
Those wishing to obtain permission for a three-day stay in Beijing will be required to provide the airport's border service with a ticket confirming the planned departure to a third country. The transit visa starts only after the necessary documents have been submitted.
