Flour wars in the Spanish city of Ibi
In the midst of the battle

In Spain there is not only a war of tomatoes the annual Tomatina Festival, which was held in August in Valencia). There is also the floury war Enfarinats, which takes place every year on New Year's Eve in the city of Ibi. For the whole day, the town of Ibi turns into a battlefield, where people are shelling each other with flour and eggs to the sound of bursting firecrackers creating a sense of real battle.

In fact, the festival has pretty clear rules that go back to 1800, although legalized the festival was only a year later . According to the rules, men in the city are divided into two groups . The first includes married men who lead Ibi for the whole day and publish absurd laws that everyone should follow . Another group is Their opponents, whose task is to to expel the crazy government and restore order in the city . After the battle the festival ends with traditional dances with colorful dresses and masks .
